Messages on either side are mirrored to the other through real-time webhooks, so your team keeps replying from the handset and the same conversations also reach your platform. It is the answer to the reason most businesses stall on the API: nobody wants to give up the phone to find out whether a platform is worth it.

The trade-offs are Meta’s. Sending is capped at 20 messages per second, the WhatsApp catalogue and orders are unavailable, broadcast lists become read-only, and a few app features switch off. Full migration removes all of that and ends the app on that number.
