Free WhatsApp QR code generator
Turn your number into a QR code that opens a WhatsApp chat — with your first message already typed. Download it as a PNG for screens or an SVG for print.
- PNG and vector SVG downloads
- No expiry, no redirect, no account
- Drawn in your browser — nothing uploaded
The link inside the code
https://wa.me/…
The code is drawn by JavaScript running on this page. Your number is never sent to us or to an image service — you can disconnect from the network after the page loads and the downloads still work.
A QR code with no reason to scan it gets ignored.
Say what happens next
Not “scan me”. “Scan to check stock”, “Scan to book a fitting”, “Scan for your warranty” — a specific promise roughly doubles the scan rate over a bare code.
Size it for the distance
Minimum about a tenth of the scanning distance. 2 cm on a menu, 20 cm on a shop window, and much larger on a hoarding people read from across a road.
Test the printed one
Scan the actual print with two or three phones, in the light it will live in. Low contrast, a glossy laminate or a fold through the middle all break codes that looked perfect on screen.
Questions, answered.
Does the QR code expire?
No. It encodes a plain wa.me link and nothing else — there is no redirect through us, no short link and no account behind it, so there is nothing that can be switched off later. Print it once and it keeps working for as long as the number does.
Can I put it on a poster, a menu or packaging?
Yes, that is what the SVG download is for — it stays sharp at any size, which a PNG will not. As a rule of thumb, print it at least 2 cm × 2 cm for a scan from 30 cm away, and roughly a tenth of the scanning distance for anything further: a QR read from 2 m wants about 20 cm.
Is my number sent anywhere?
No. The QR code is drawn in your browser by JavaScript on this page. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and there is no image service in the middle — which is also why it keeps working with your network offline once the page has loaded.
Why does my code look different from the WhatsApp app’s QR?
They do different jobs. The QR inside WhatsApp Business adds you as a contact and is tied to that app install. This one encodes a wa.me link, so any camera app opens a chat with your number — no WhatsApp-specific scanner needed, and it works from a printed page.
Will adding the logo stop it scanning?
No. Turning the logo on switches the code to the highest error-correction level, which can lose about 30% of the pattern and still read. The logo covers well under that. Always test the printed version with two or three phones before ordering a thousand of them.
Can several people answer the scans?
Not with a wa.me link on its own — it opens a chat with one number, on one phone. Once more than one person needs to answer, the number has to move to the WhatsApp Business Cloud API and a shared inbox, which is what Watx is for. The QR code itself does not change.
